The 2002 Final Four is scheduled to take place at the Georgia Dome, which will also be host to the 2007 Final Four Tournament. The Final Four Tournament has not been held in Georgia since 1977 when Marquette beat North Carolina with a final score of 67 – 59. The Georgia Dome will also welcome the 2003 NCAA Women’s Final Four. Hosting both the Men and Women’s Final Four will make Atlanta, Georgia the first city to host the NCAA Final Four in successive years.

Not only is the Georgia Dome the preferred site for the Final Four, it is the first choice for a plethora of other events. The 173 million dollar structure can hold 71,500 people at one time and every seat in the house is a good seat. The Georgia Dome is the largest cable-supported domed stadium in the entire world, and is the first stadium to utlilize the Tenstar Dome structure. Because of its lightweight structure and extraordinary seating capacity, the Georgia Dome is the perfect place to hold the NCAA Final Four basketball tournament.
