Types of NFL Football Bets
Sports Betting

Betting online has become virtually synonymous with sports betting. The most popular online sports betting lines are those relating to nfl football. With regard to nfl football betting odds there are generally six different types of betting that a player needs to understand. These types of bets are straight bets, parlays, teasers, “over under bets”, “if bets”, and reverses.

Whether betting online or via a land sports betting establishment, a straight bet is the simplest and most common bet made. When making a straight bet you are simply betting on which team will win or lose the game.

Parlays are a form of multiple betting where a group of straight bets are placed, or totals are combined into one bet. In order to win when betting parlays, all of your picks must win.

Similar to parlays, a teaser is another form of multiple betting used for several sports betting lines, including nfl football betting odds. The difference with a teaser bet is that a bettor is given the option to add or subtract points in order to make the bet stronger. These additional points may either be added to the underdog or subtracted from the favorite. As when betting parlays, all picks in a teaser bet must prevail.

An “over under bet” means that you are betting what the combined point total for both teams will be by the end of the game. You can either bet on whether the actual number of points is going to be over or under the total. This total includes points scored in overtime, and if there is a tie your original bet placed is refunded.

In sports betting, “if bets” are used by many players as a form of money management. Like a parlay, an “if bet” is also a form of multiple betting but it is not a type of all-or-nothing betting. When betting online using an “if bet” your exposure to losses is minimized. This is due to the fact that the second bet is placed only if the first bet wins, therefore the maximum amount that you can lose when placing an “if bet” is the amount of the first bet placed.

Another form of online sports betting lines is the reverse bet. This form of betting with nfl football betting odds is simply a variation of an “if bet” that works in both directions.

No matter which of these forms of betting you choose, remember that they apply to both internet betting and land sports betting. With regards to nfl football betting odds, it is best to start with these six types of betting lines. After accumulating some betting experience, there are several other forms of betting available for the accomplished bettor.
