Teasers are a type of bet made in sports betting that allow a bettor to place a single bet on two or more games in one of two ways: regular teasers or special teasers. In general, teasers allow a player to adjust the point spread in order to gain better odds at winning. Teasers give the bettor the option to add or subtract points from the betting lines. These additional points may either be added to the underdog or subtracted from the favorite. All teasers require that every game bet on in the combination of wagers be won. If any one game in the series of bets produces a tie or loss the entire teaser bet is also considered a loss.

Regular teasers permit the bettor to combine football games with basketball games. With this type of teaser bet the betting line is automatically adjusted form one sport to another. Conversely, special teasers do not allow football and basketball bets to be combined, and are only permitted to be used in professional and college football and basketball. As is the case with regular teasers, all the chosen games must win in order for the bet to be a success; if one game ties or loses the whole special teaser bet is also lost.

Both regular and special teasers offer higher payouts than straight bets, but this also means there is a greater deal of risk involved. It is important to remember that the odds of winning are based on the number of points added or subtracted to the point spread and the number of teams combined to form the teaser bet. Because teasers mandate that all games bet on in a series of games produce winners, choose your games and your bets wisely.
